Nussbaum Center for Entrepreneurship

Founded in 1987, The Nussbaum Center for Entrepreneurship is a non-profit corporation dedicated to providing small businesses with the tools they need to thrive in the competitive world of business.  Sam Funchess, President and CEO, describes the Center as an "environment for success."  The Center supplies its associates with such valuable services as business consulting, conference space, flexible leases, and networking opportunities with fellow entrepreneurs.

As corporate downsizing continues many people are drawn to small business for employment.    According to Funchess, small businesses are becoming the future of the new economy however; these fledgling businesses have an extremely high failure rate.  "Nearly all businesses need support for an array of different reasons," said Funchess.  The Center provides this support and has successfully graduated 130 businesses and created 1,301 jobs.  These jobs have a higher median wage than that of Guilford County and helped generate more than 125 million dollars in revenue for the local community in 2006 alone.

"We've had numerous graduates," said Funchess. "For them the Nussbaum Center was a key stepping stone on their way to success."
